Buckskin Warmblood Swedish Stallion Catapult

Imported Sabino Buckskin Warmblood

Swedish Warmblood stallion (ASVH/SWB)

Cagliostro x Turban Rose x Callaghan

Foaled June 27, 2006

16.3hh (169cm) mature

Catapult is a spectacular sabino buckskin Swedish Warmblood colt with interesting sabino markings including a "lightning bolt" pattern on his inside right hind leg, two long stockings, white chin and a belly spot directly in the center of his stomach.  Catapult should have little trouble living up to his name:  He comes from a long line of successful Grand Prix and Olympic show jumping competitors and producers.  He is a modern style Warmblood with some of the best Holsteiner and Selle Français bloodlines.

Catapult is truly a one-of-a-kind stallion prospect.  He is super sweet in nature, has the most sensible, gentle disposition, and loves to do his work.  Despite being born rather late in the season, he was inspected as a foal in Sweden in 2006 and as a 2-year old in North America for a pre-breeding evaluation in 2008.  As a foal, he received a total score of 44 points resulting in Class II designation, but as a 2-year old, his designation was upgraded to Class I with fantastic comments from the judges.

Catapult will be presented to the Swedish Warmblood Association of North America (SWANA) as a four-year old and hopefully to other highly-recognized European registries thereafter.  50% of Catapult’s progeny will be a dilute color (palomino, buckskin, or smoky black).  ALL of Catapult’s progeny from any registered or unregistered mare will qualify for Warmblood and/or Sport Horse registration.

Catapult's Ancestors (use scroll bar to view entire text)

His sire, Cagliostro 931, was awarded Premeirad A with the ASVH (Swedish Warmblood), attained the highest scores in jumping during his 1997 stallion testing in Sweden, and his BLUP-index in jumping is 141.  Cagliostro has won and placed in numerous Grand Prix and International competitions including the World Equestrian Games, the Nation’s Cup (FEI: CSIO4*), and the World Cup (FEI: CSI-W).  Cagliostro successfully competed in the FEI Western European League World Cup in Sweden against world-renowned horse-rider combinations including Meredith and Ludger Beerbaum with Shutterfly and Couleur Rubin respectively, Nick Skelton with Arko III, John Whitaker with Exploit de Roulard and the 2004 Olympic Individual Gold Medalist, Rodrigo Pessoa with Baloubet du Rouet.  As of 2005, Cagliostro had claimed more than 20 wins and nearly 100 placings in international Grand Prix jumping classes at fence heights up to 1.60m (5'2").

Catapult’s foundation ancestors include Rantzau xx (Grand Prix producer), Cottage Son xx (Olympic producer),
Ladykiller xx (Grand Prix producer and sire of Landgraf I, Holsteiner Stallion of the Century and Olympic producer), and Furioso xx (Olympic producer).  Cor De La Bryère (elite, Reserve Stallion of the Century second to Landgraf I) produced many top-level competition and Grand Prix horses including Corlandus, the 1987 World Champion in
d
ressage and Individual Silver Medal recipient at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul.  Calando I (elite, jumping index of 136) was a champion German show jumper and placed in the top ten of the USEF Leading Jumper Sire rankings three consecutive years in a row from 2000-2002 and in 2005 he was ranked higher than the elite jumper stallion Voltaire.

Liostro (elite) produced over 100 successful sport horses including the Grand Prix winners Otis, LioCalyon and Sapphire who was also the Pan American Games Individual Gold Medal Winner and 2004 Athens Olympian.  Ella (elite) produced the stallion Constant, an international show jumper and sire of the world-famous Olympian show jumper Chin Chin, who placed sixth individually in the 1988 Seoul Olympic games and made a second appearance in the 1992 Olympic games in Barcelona.  Ella's dam, Dorette (elite), is also the dam of Roman, the famous broodmare sire that jumped internationally at S-level, and also Farn (Preferent), who sired the Dutch Preferent Sire of the Century, Nimmerdor.

The elite stallion Urbino 430 is recognized as one of Sweden’s foundation sires and is the sire of Flyinge Flamingo 481 (elite, recipient of the Olympic Bronze Medal in dressage in 1984), Flyinge Bobby 896 (World Championships, European Championships and Olympic competitor in dressage), and over 100 studbook mares.  Urbino is also the sire of Callaghan 460 who was awarded Premeirad A, which is the highest award given to a breeding stallion and recognizes not only the excellence of the individual, but also the consistent ability to pass on these qualities to offspring.  Grand Veneur was often France’s leading sire based on the performance of his progeny especially at the Grand Prix level and produced more than 335 show jumping winners and more than 75 stallions.  His elite son, Le Tot de Semilly, along with his rider won 22 international and 63 national Grand Prix titles and almost 200,000 euro in prize money.

Gold Rose was a member of the French show jumping team from 1979 until 1982, during which time she won the Grand Prix of Paris and Madrid and became second in Lisbon, Barcelona and Hamburg.  Her total winnings were 621,000 Francs and she had an untouchable jumping index of 186! (For reference, Chin Chin’s index is 166).  Jolie Rose was an outstanding producer of successful international show jumpers, Gold Rose being one of them, and her sire, Ibrahim, was a highly sought after foundation sire for the Selle Français breed after his progeny proved to be great jumpers.  Ibrahim sired the dually recognized "Father of World Breeding" and the Selle Français "Stallion of the Century", Almé, who in turn sired 2 World Champions and 3 Olympic horses.  Gold Rose produced two approved sons, one of which was Turban Rose 834, who was only two points behind Nimmerdor in the USEF 2006 Leading Hunter Sires rankings.
