Olé
was tragically taken from us far too soon. At only 9 years of age and
exactly 2 months after delivering her gorgeous foal, Arriba,
Olé lost her battle with a sudden and severe colic attack even though she
was not prone to colic. She was
fondly loved and will be greatly missed.

Holsteiner Horse Association’s 1999 Approval

Committee where she was awarded
Merit status.
She was presented to the Oldenburg N.A. association in 2008 and received
top scores for Breed type, Walk in hand, and Swing and elasticity of
gaits, which earned her approval into their Main Mare Book. The
judge particularly commented on her amazingly calm disposition, which he
said, made her an ideal broodmare. Her full sister, Nic Nak ('98), was presented to the AHHA as a
six-year-old and received the second highest score of the season with 42
total bonit points.
Olé
was a very bold mover
with amazing self-carriage and framed
her magnificent neck on the lightest contact with a loose ring snaffle
bit. She was a one-of-a-kind, elegant mare with significant substance
and amazing sabino markings. Her jumping technique was tops and she
demonstrates natural bascule and scope. She was known around the farm
as the "gentle giant".
Olé’s world-renowned ancestral lineage
included
Rantzau xx (Grand Prix producer), Cor de la Bryère (elite,
Reserve Stallion of the Century and Olympic producer), Ladykiller xx
(Grand Prix producer), and Landgraf I (elite,
Holsteiner Stallion of the Century and Olympic producer).
Her sire,
Candidus,
was imported from Germany in 1991 and has who won numerous titles at Devon
including Reserve Grand Champion and has received scores in dressage in the low 70’s.
Cor
De La Bryère (elite, Reserve Stallion of the Century second to Landgraf I) produced many top-level competition and Grand Prix horses including Corlandus, the 1987 World Champion in
dressage and Individual Silver Medal recipient at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul. In 2004, Cor de la Bryère ranked 6th and in 2006 he ranked
16th for the USEF Leading Jumper Sires.
Landgraf
I (elite) became the most important sire of show jumpers in the twentieth century after siring the most money winning show jumping offspring worldwide. Landgraf had a very good temperament which he consistently passed to his progeny along with exceptional movement. His
elite dam, Warthburg, was a career competitor in jumping before becoming a broodmare and comes from stem 275, which is a recognized as a highly transmitted performance lineage. Her
elite sire, Aldato, is considered to be the founding sire one of the top modern stallion lines in the Holsteiner breed. Aldato is also the sire of
Albrant.
Ladykiller
xx clearly transmitted his marked noble type, correct and powerful foundation and excellent jumping ability in regards to capacity, bascule and scope, and above all spirit. His sons, Landgraf I and Lord, are considered to be some of the most influential stallions to date.
Fax I sired Farn (preferent), who in turn sired the Dutch Preferent Sire of the Century,
Nimmerdor. Marlon progeny are known for their general good size and their exceptional rideability values and have won over DM 1,200,000 in sport horse competition. Among his many champion offspring, Marlon sired Madrigal, the Silver Dressage Medalist at Montreal Olympics in
1976.
Marlon also produced the Holstein Stallion Test Reserve Champion, Malteser, who was widely known for his positive influence on the expression of movement in the Holsteiner
breed.
Olé
was a very rare and unusually colorful mare with loud sabino
expression. She received extensive training and easily
schooled over 3'6" jumps. Her memory will live on with her
legacy, Inn Vogue (2005) and Arriba
(2008).
