UPDATE

Travola
was presented at the KWPN-NA keuring on September 7, 2008
and received some of the top scores for the day. She
received an amazing 80 points for Conformation (15 out of
19 conformation evaluations were within the
"ideal" range of the Linear Scoring), 65 points
for Walk, 70 points for Canter, and 75 points for Trot
with obvious marks for her powerful trot impulsion.
She was exempt from free jumping as she already had
obtained her Sport predicate
based on her past competition record. Travola was
awarded First Premium and is eligible to receive her Star
and subsequently Keur and
Prok predicates. She recently completed the
required x-ray component to receive her Star
Prok. She will be presented in future years
for the Keur class as well
(hopefully alongside her Chin Chin foal). Photos have been added to Travola's
Photo Page and a video of her huge trot will soon be
available.

Our imported Swedish
Warmblood buckskin group of Catapult,
Clair de Lune, and Jamaica
were presented to the Swedish Warmblood Association on
October 7, 2008. The girls were presented for
broodmare evaluation and Catapult for a pre-breeding
evaluation (he is only 2 years of age and is not eligible
for stallion presentation for another year). Both
Clair de Lune and Jamaica scored extremely well and were
awarded a Premium B designation
- the highest predicate a non-diploma broodmare can
receive at an inspection. Clair de Lune had been
inspected as a 2-year old and so was not given any scores
but had outstanding comments including a personal comment
from the judges, "Exceptional condition for having 7
foals!" The judges asked me to please bring the
mares back in the future with some dressage-bred foals due
to the girls' outstanding pedigrees. New photos of Clair
de Lune and Jamaica
are available on their respective photo pages.

Catapult
was presented to a pre-breeding inspection to get a better
idea of whether or not he would be considered a stallion
prospect. Catapult received outstanding scores with 3
scores of "8" for "Head, Neck, Body",
"Walk", and "Trot". He scored 45
points earning him a Class I designation,
the highest designation a horse under 3-years of age can
receive. We will be bringing him back to the stallion
inspection as a 4-year old. New photos of Catapult
are now available on his photo page.

2008
BREEDING SEASON - UPDATE |
|
|
|

|
We
were only able to settle Clair de Lune
(imported buckskin Swedish Warmblood) this year, who is in foal to For Play
(Elite Hanov) a newly imported
stallion. This
foal will have a 50% chance of being palomino or buckskin, 50%
chance of being sabino and will be
registered with SWANA. Due in May 2009. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Unfortunately
after numerous attempts, we were not able to settle either Jamaica
(imported buckskin Swedish Warmblood) or Travola
(imported sabino Star Sport Dutch Warmblood).
Next year, we plan on breeding Jamaica to Viva
Voltaire (Elite
Hanov) and Travola to Chin
Chin (BWP/KWPN).

IN
MEMORANDUM |
|
|
|
|
|
It is with deep regret and great sadness that
we announce the loss of our gorgeous Holsteiner mare, Olé.
On August 27 at 3:30am, the decision was made to euthanize
Olé after she endured a courageous 6 hours through a sever colic attack.
Olé had no previous history of colic since we purchased her last February until she had Arriba exactly 2 months ago. She had 2 mild colic attacks recently - both were quickly and easily resolved but unfortunately, this last attack claimed Ole's life. With our vet, Marty, my mother and I administered IV fluids, pain killers and an array of other medications for over 4 hours all the time trying to massage
Olé's belly and keep her walking. Olé was in such
pain that we
|
|
could not get her to her feet for more than a few seconds and trailering her and Arriba to an emergency clinic was considered too dangerous for all involved. Just prior to saying our goodbyes and through our own tears, we looked to poor little Arri and saw a single tear in her left
eye as she pawed at her mom to try and get her to stand. That was the most heartbreaking thing
we have ever seen. The autopsy revealed an extremely
complicated gastric clearing complication followed by torsion that would have been given a very poor
prognosis had surgery even been attempted.
Olé was fondly loved and will be greatly missed. May she now be taken to a better place where she will never know pain again.
Olé was only 9 years young.

Until next time, happy
horsing!
